I am the luckiest mom ever...

Just talked to both of my daughters and they both made my day!

Alyssa had a success with a case; apply and get accepted into college...he gave Alyssa all of the credit to where he is at today! What a great feeling that she made a difference in his life!

I talked to Laurie; I was worried about what I had seen in the news of a cord hanging down from a treadmill and a small child was injured! Of course she was on top of the situation and then she said "Mom-remember what I do and where I work!" she has more knowledge with pediatrics than any mom has with experience!

So after a stressful day at work...my day will end with a wonderful feeling of being so proud of each of my daughters. Not that I miss them less but know they are both doing what they want to do; and doing it awesome!

Can't wait to see this!

Dr. Beach’s Top 10 Beaches of 2009
Hamoa Beach, Maui, Hawaii: Rimmed by cliffs and covered by coconut palm trees and flowering vegetation, this crescent beach, a mixture of coral and lava sand, is the most famous of Maui’s Hana beaches. To get to Hamoa Beach, drive the "Road to Hana," the treacherous highway with drop-offs of more than 1,000 feet, sporadic guardrails and more than 50 one-way bridges. Ernest Hemingway once said that Hamoa Beach was the world’s best beach, but it’s only no. 5 on this year's list.

I need a vacation...today was cold and rainy! Two days ago it was almost 90 degrees and today 60 degrees....I forget if you don't like the weather in Iowa wait until tomorrow and it will be different!

The Quiz

I just received my new "Real Simple" magazine and started to laugh as I saw and article of The Quiz....
do you really know the words to that song?
For years you girls were so embarrassed when I wouldn't know the words to their favorite songs....this quiz brought back lots of memories...makes me feel better that I wasn't the only one not using the correct words...someone else thought like it did.
Check it out http://www.realsimple.com/work-life/entertainment/arts-culture/know-lyrics-song-00000000013872/ take the quiz...

For Laurie on her 1st Mother's Day....

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby..
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom

You have been thru so much the first 6 months or being a new mom and you are wonderful! Ella will someday thank you!

Honor my mom on "Mother's Day"

Found this old photo or me and Grandma Jean....I miss her! (What do you think of the matching skirts?)

Pet Peeve for me today!

I was at Otto's this afternoon and bought most of my flowers to plant tomorrow (Hopefully it will be warmer!) and after the cashier rang up my order....she asks if I have a coupon... and of course I didn't have one! I asked her where the coupon was found....in the paper! of course I don't get the paper!
I think that if they bring it up ....they should share and give you one! If she wouldn't of mentioned it I wouldn't of been upset!

Finally made a purchase!

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 7-Piece Cookware Set...yes how silly not to have cookware to use on your new stove! I bought this small set of cookware last night and all day was thinking about using it. How great to cook a meal...something that I haven't done since "Christmas" Isn't that sad!
Max's little nose was going crazy....he hasn't smelled food cooking for months!

Alyssa...Idea for your new apartment

Space saving table and chairs (stored)
Table and chairs to entertain with...I think I want this also!

"Survivor: Gabon" cast a hit in Charles City

Big "Fundraiser" for a new trailer for the Band...Susie Smith invited six of the survivors, to share stories and pictures! Silent auction of Survivor items for the trailer fund. You could buy V.I.P. passes to meet them personally...I heard people were crazy! The survivors stayed at the Bed and Breakfast....big deal for little Charles City!

Sunday pain from Saturday's outside work!

Spent the whole day Saturday outside in the sunshine working on my yard...made the big mistake last fall and didn't rake! So had lots of leaves hidden in and around all of the landscaping...Max was whining to go inside...he was bored watching me work! Also another big accomplishment...the garage! The wonderful jobs of being a home owner that has too much stuff!

Ella 6 months old!

The little "Capris" are maybe a little bit too long....but so cute!
This little "Butterfly Dress" is so cute on her...

The photo with Ella looking at her little doll....brings back so many memories of Laurie when she was one year old....she wouldn't look at the photographer-wouldn't smile-so I have a picture of Laurie "Holding a leaf"!
